3. Draining: means very tiring, exhausting, makes you lost a lot of energy (if you use it). It is very tiring for your body.
4. Otherwise: means -- it you don't do this, if you don't listen to these advice.
5. Interfere with your progress: Means
Interfere: give you trouble, disturb you, to slow you down
with your progress: slow down your improvement, give difficulty to your improvement.
The whole sentence means:
If you don't do it, it is going to give you difficulty in you future improvement (development)
