A few suggestions:
1. Meditation or any spiritual practice is a serious matter. Go to learn it from a "real teacher" face to face.
Learn carefully with respect and consistency.
Don't learn from books, qigong forum......
Look at the example of what happened to someone below (in this forum)....something happens.
He is very afraid......and it is difficult for us to help him in the forum.
If you don't learn from a teacher, many things can happen.........it could be serious if you don't know how to handle it.
(People might say, everything is "normal" during qigong practice........It is "normal" only when you know how to handle it...)
2. I always tell people not to "teach" or "learn" from a "qigong forum" (or books)--- it is a place for "discussion and exchanges" only.
I have seen a lot of "Inappropriate Teachings" in the qigong forum everyday.
(eg. People teach "Tibetan Methods" here without a real teacher --- practitioners know, without a real teacher, without "Guan Ding" - the protection and guidance, it could lead to very serious problems.........
I made warnings repeatedly, but people do not listen.......I still see this happens in the forum everyday )
People might have good intention to teach here -- without knowing the serious problem of not having a "real teacher".
3. And then, there are a lot of people trying to "fix problems" in the qigong forum.
People try to help with good intention -- without knowing the background, method, history, physical/mental conditions..etc. -- it usually creates more problems.
People practices "Method A" tries to fix problems for people practicing "Method B".....without knowing each method is "different" .....
Sigh....sigh....!
It is called " The blind leading the blind !"
4. If you cannot sit with both legs (or one leg) crossed, don't do it.
There are many methods that do not require a lotus position (crossed legs).
Many methods allow practitioners to sit, stand, walk, sleep........etc.
Find a method that is comfortable for you.
5. Sitting position is not the most important thing. The important thing is to "concentrate" (to eventually purify your heart and mind).
Crossed legs is only one method to achieve this purpose.
Don't force yourself to do anything that you are not ready.
When you are ready you can sit easily with your legs crossed.
That is:
For example, If you start with sitting on a chair, gradually, there are changes in your body and mind.....you become calmer, your meridians (jing lor) unblocked, your body becomes very soft........to a point you can easily sit with your legs crossed naturally.
6. Before you have a real teacher. Just sit on a chair with your eyes closed. You can repeat a "mantra" or a word.(eg. Da Bei Mantra etc.or any word)This is just to help you to concentrate. Not for any other purpose.
Don't expect too much.
7. Find a teacher quickly. This is not "playing".
Don't play in the playground any more.
8. I don't want to see you to "learn" from here at all.
You have come to the wrong place.

9. Regarding how to find a teacher:
"When a student is ready, a teacher is there (will come to you)"
Advance (high level) teachers find their own students. They cannot be found. This is the method how advance students and advance teachers find each other.
If you want to find a good teacher, be a good student first.
That is to be sincere in our heart and mind. To act, think, and talk with good intention and consideration, to respect everything/ everyone 24 hours a day in our everyday life.
Of course, if you sit at home and your teacher don't come (a joke) , you can consider the followings:
We usually find a teacher that is right for our own level.
Don't compare teachers: who is more famous, powerful....etc.
It is not important.....the important thing is, the teaching is right for your own level. Find a teacher who knows(ming shi), not a teacher that is famous (ming shi).
Find a teacher who emphasises "Ci Bei Xin" (heart of compassion), "Dao De"....
Don't find a teacher who mainly teaches "methods", "powers", "E.S.P. -exceptional abilities.
